Family Time

The boys enjoyed hanging out with the family today. Andrew decided that Grandma Bolline's lap was the best place for a nap and Adam had a blast playing with Aunt Cheryl. They got to hang out with the women while all the big boys went fishing. I'm sure it won't be long before the twins join the big boys on their adventures but for now we are enjoying having them with us!

We Made it to New Orleans!

We got the call that the boys' helmets were in and we were able to swing by there before we caught our flight to New Orleans so the poor boys have had quite an exhausting day. But they were real troopers despite the new head gear and all the airport travel stress. We got some crazy comments and lots of stares, my favorite of which came from an adorable little boy who was probably three and he said "Look mommy, Baby Astronauts!" I thought that was pretty cute. We are on 23 hours a day of use but have to take the helmets off every three hours for several days to check for skin break downs but so far so good. And don't worry, they haven't been decorated yet, they came with the little name labels which I'll replace with something else when I get a chance.

Getting Bigger Every Day

I certainly wouldn't say Adam has mastered sitting quite yet but he can sit unassisted for longer periods before toppling over so he is making progress in this area!

It's hard work being a baby!

Dining Out

We enjoyed having dinner out with my entire family last night and despite the chaos we didn't get kicked out of the restaurant and managed to all get the chance to eat our meals. The boys saw their cousin Luke sitting in a high chair and decided to test it out (mommy was brave and let them despite the fact that it belonged to the restuarant). Now that we know they can do it, next time I'll bring their cute high chair covers with us. They liked feeling like big boys and sitting at the table. The boys were so happy to see their Granny & Pa since they have been out of town for what seemed like forever. We are so glad they are back! Daddy also let the boys have a tasting adventure and suck on a lemon. I was expecting some really wild faces but they really didn't seem that startled by the sour taste. You know Adam, he'll eat anything! The boys did well despite being out past their bedtime and we enjoyed catching up with everyone.

Lady's Man

If you've ever been around Andrew you've probably noticed that he's a little flirt, just ask Kierstyn K =-). Rebecca and I caught him putting the moves on Kaylie recently and trying to hold her hand (I don't think she minded either ;-). Too funny!

Thanks for signing the guestbook everyone, that was really cool! I had fun looking at all the pictures and seeing where everyone is from. Lots of cute babies and kids!! I was hoping I could reply to each of you but it won't allow me to, so know that I wanted to and thanks! If you've ever emailed me and I didn't respond I'm really sorry because I always try to write people back. I use a company email address and the spam filter is very strict and it often prevents legitimate emails from coming through but I try to review the filter every so often and see if I can catch anything after the fact. Usually if you put "your blog" or something like that other than "hi" I can find them.

If you haven't signed the guest book and would still like to, it's not too late!

Have a great day!

Oh My

I just noticed that my hit counter has gone over 100,000. WOW, I'm totally speechless. Thank you to everyone that visits, cares and especially those that pray for Adam & Andrew and our family. We have really been blessed by so much support along this journey and God has truly used you in our lives and has poured out His grace upon us.

Please sign our guestbook today, just select the button on the "" image. It would be especially cool if you upload a picture, it's very easy to do. If you are a regular visitor but have never introduced yourself I would love it if you would take a moment and "de-lurk" if you feel so obliged today. I save each and every comment so that one day I can show the boys all the love and support that surrounded them in their earliest days. Thanks for being here!

Weekend Update

Sorry I've been a deliquent blogger lately. Kenny went out of town Fri-Sat so I had my hands full. The boys are doing well. We are taking a big trip this week. We leave Thursday and fly to New Orleans to visit our Bolline relatives. The boys will have their very first hotel stay. Daddy is driving there but the boys and I are flying along with Grandma and Grandpa. It's a short flight so hopefully they'll do okay. Then when we get back hopefully their helmets will be ready for fitting. I posted some videos below so be sure to check them out!

Cranial Banding

The boys did so good today. It wasn't nearly as bad as it looks, the orthotic team was excellent and really great with the babies. Adam didn't mind the process until he had to sit there a minute for it to dry, I think he got bored. Andrew was so relaxed that he slept through the whole thing! Hopefully it won't take too long to get the helmets made from the head casts.

I'm SO very proud of my little men, they are so brave!

Helmet Time

Tomorrow we "head" to The Woodlands to get molded for the boys' helmets. It will likely be a few more weeks before the helmets arrive. After that we will have to return every 1-3 weeks for adjustments as their heads continue to grow, so I will be putting lots of miles on my car over the next several months. Here are our "before" shots. You can tell that Adam's (top) is much more severe. The plagiocephaly is causing his ears to be out of alignment and the right side of his forehead and right cheek are larger than the left side. I'm excited for the boys, they may not enjoy this process but they will thank us when they are older!

I know a lot of the parents decorate the helmets to make them look less "medical". Someone suggested painting them to look like an Aggie football helmet. That would be fun but I've seen some painted helmets that faded badly over time and then didn't look very good. Plus I'm not sure a football helmet is appropriate for church. And I'm real weird about things coordinating so I'm not keen on using colors that will clash with their clothing. I'm trying to think of something like decals that I can decorate them and still be able to change them out from time to time. Like aggie decals for game days but not for church. Any ideas?

6 Months at Home!

This week marks six months that the boys have been home from the NICU. I can hardly believe it. God has been so good to us and has answered many prayers. The boys are doing as good as we could have possibly hoped for. We praise God for all the blessings over the last 6 months, especially that the boys have not had any rehospitalizations or illnesses, that they are off oxygen and monitors, and they are growing and gaining weight well. But most of all they are SO happy. Happy just to be alive and the joy radiates from their faces. We are SO blessed!

The boys have done so well today, they haven't needed tylenol since 6am this morning and have pretty much been their usual selves. They are eating well too. Tonight they tried avacado and baby yogurt for the first time. They loved it. I'm so relieved that they are feeling well and that we have the surgery behind us now!

That picture below of Adam on my chest reminded me of when I held him for the very first time and how much he has changed since then. So I just had to share this comparison photo of Adam from way back then (look at it first then scroll down to the one from yesterday). What a miracle to see them develop over all these months. He is just a little bit bigger now right ;-)?
