One of my favorite things in the world is here, our summer escape to Colorado! This is the third year in a row that we'll be here for the 4th of July and it's even more special because this is the first time that Daddy has ever joined us for a summer trip. It's gotten so hot back home so when we stepped off that airplane and the dry cool air hit us, I immediately felt a new peace wash over me. Amazing how much temperature effects me but it really does. I don't function well in the heat.
Our trip up here was pretty stressful. We found out only a few hours before our departure that our flight had been cancelled. So we had only a few short hours to regroup and get on the road to Dallas to catch our connecting flight. We almost missed it but then bad weather in Dallas ended up delaying it for two more hours! We made a bold move to go stroller free for the first time ever through the airport and we totally survived but the unexpected hours on the road and waiting in the crowded airport definitely took their toll on the boys and they were in a constant melt down state until we finally got on the plane. Fortunately they did really great on the flight but boy were we happy to exit the plane in Colorado!
The boys were so excited to be there and they kept pointing at the mountains and saying "There's Codderado right there!! It's so booootiful!" They don't quite get that everything thing is Colorado. We kept trying to explain this and they kept arguing with us. Crazy boys!
We got settled in and all slept like logs last night, except for one time with Andrew woke up screaming bloody murder because he had no idea where he was, which woke up Adam who also started screaming. They were easily settled and we all slept late for still being on Texas time.
Our first day was already full and fun. The boys got to do some hot-tubbing with Daddy & Pa. Then we walked down the mountain to the neighborhood park and then back up (this thin air is reminding me how out of shape I am!). Then we went to the store to get supplies for our stay.
The boys had a blast riding around the driveway on the Diego trike and a new bike Granny got for the kids. We also got to take a peek at a family of 4 foxes that are living up the rode, SOOO cute! Hopefully I'll get some pictures soon.
Sunny & Blue Skies!

It's been a while since we went to a park since it's been so hot!

Then we ate lunch outside at a cafe, no way we could do that back home right now!

Andrew loves to pretend he's Diego and he'll tell me "Mama you be Alicia, oKaaay??"

So glad Daddy is here!

Adam did really great on this bike, considering he only has a tricycle at home

I love watching these summer thunder storms roll in. They are SO relaxing!

Family Trip Summer 2010, hooray!!
