Road Race

While we were in Colorado the USA Pro Challenge cycling race was going on. One day it ended nearby so we went up into the mountains and staked out a spot on the course to cheer on the riders. It was like watching a parade because there were so many vehicles, motor cycles, cops, ambulances etc in addition to the competitors. Even though it was pouring down rain, the kids had a blast. There were several well known riders from the tour participating so it was pretty cool to see it all.

Here comes the Peleton

One of the teams support cars stopped by us to swap bikes around.

Andrew was so excited to get one of the racers' water bottles

Farewell old friend . . .

Ally at 4 Months

This post is way overdue but better late than never right? My laptop recently bit the dust and it looks like I may have lost a great deal of my photos despite efforts to back them up :-( So I only have phone photos until I can get my laptop repaired and download pics off my camera again. Anyway . . .

My sweet baby girl is 4 months old!

She weighed 14 pounds 5 ounces
60% for weight & 50% for height

She is a chunky healthy little thing and I love it!

This month Ally has starting really giggling and is so ticklish and fun. She can roll from tummy to back but doesn't choose to do it very often ;). She reaches for and plays with her toys. She is still an awesome sleeper, going about 12 hours straight at night. She's so sweet and snugly and her brothers and daddy can't get enough of her.

She's a really good baby (though she can have a temper at times ;) At 4 months old she's happily driven to CO and back, flown on airplanes, been to a few movies, gone with us hiking, and just about every adventure we've had over our busy summer. I'm so thankful for what a good sport she is. I just can't even imagine life without her!

Perseverance

It was a long way up to the top and the children didn't think they could do it and part of me wondered silently if we made bad a decision setting off on this adventure. But we wouldn't allow them to turn back because we knew if they gave up they would miss the experience and the reward waiting for them up at the top.

We made goals to reach certain things like a big boulder to stop by for a rest & water break.

We had to encourage them and offer some tough love at times when we could see a meltdown coming

And finally we reached the little bridge and discovered the beautiful pure waters of the natural waterfall dancing before our eyes, we knew that we had persevered and the reward had been worth it. It really was a challenging hike and I know it was extremely difficult for Andrew but he endured and I was so proud of his accomplishment.

God is the author of so much incredible beauty for us to enjoy

Thankful to watch them experience such an important life lesson. My kids may never lead the pack academically or be a superstar athlete, but more important I hope they gain character and grit and learn to never quit despite the challenges life throws at you. So proud of the many mountains I've seen these boys climb.

New Park

This summer we found a newly renovated city park to visit and the kids thought it was awesome.

Ally ready to visit the park in her baby jeggings ;-)

They loved these spinning things, they looked like upside down plungers and made them very dizzy

I absolutely love babies in owl hats.

The boys loved checking out the nearby "bridge tunnel" over the hwy.
